The Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel was founded in 1995. It is situated against the backdrop of the picturesque Mingsha Sand Dunes. The hotel captures the spirit of the Tang Dynasty with its unique architectural design including the large rooftops and long corridors of the Han and Tang dynasties, the enclosed courtyard-style design and mud walls of the northwestern part of China, and the replicas of late Tang, Ming and Qing dynasty furniture. All these work together to recapture the flavour of a bygone era with their simplicity and use of natural building materials. The hotel provides convenient access to the major scenic spots such as Mogao Grottoes and Mingsha Hill

The Suites are furnished elegantly in the Ming Dynasty style. All rooms allow people to enjoy an ever-changing view of the great Gobi Desert under the sun. People can watch the sunset over the great Gobi Desert from the comfort of the hotel room.
Note: The Standard Room (3-star) is located in the annex building which is about 600 meters from the main building.

The hotel has indeed a very nice location with view to the dunes but the room rate is a bit over priced. We rented bicycles which were in very bad condition for 10 Yuan per hour what was not worth at all. |

We already left our feedback at the hotel. But I do not want to get lost what we forgot by this occasion: the hotel's driver has been the best of all drivers we met in China: he was polite and friendly, flexible, helpful and - not at least - a very careful driver! |
