The Beihai Hotel is a 4-star hotel located near the Eastern Steps. This is the best hotel for those who wish to catch the sunset or sunrise under or over the almost constant sea of clouds for which Huangshan is most famous for. This hotel is very popular with visitors to the mountain and is thus both fairly high-priced and often crowded. The hotel is run by the Huangshan Jinjiang International Management Co. A photo of Deng Xiaoping near to the hotel decorates the lobby.

Rising 1,630 meters above the sea level, the Beihai Hotel is located in the Beihai Scenic Area. The Hotel is surrounded by mountains and pine trees. The following scenic spots are all within your reach: The Fresh Breeze Terrace(Qingliang tai), Bai'e Peak, Believe Peak (Shixin feng), and etc. The Hotel is located about 1.5kms away from the cloud valley cableway and offers easy access to all the scenic spots mentioned.

Built in 1958 and expanded and renovated in 1996, the hotel has a total of 185 standard rooms, 319 economy rooms and 2 deluxe suites. The hotel is equipped with central air-conditioning, IDD telephones, closed circuit television and hot water.
The hotel has a beauty salon meant for the Chinese ladies who stumble up or down the mountain in high heels and make up. There is also a bar, a gym, a steam bath, a small shop and a foreign exchange desk. For dining the hotel provides both Chinese and Western food, at fairly high prices.

I don't think this is a four star hotel, however, it was adequate and it's in a pretty convenient location on the mountain. It was only half an hour walk from eastern cableway and in a handy spot for sunrise watching. My only criticism is that once the sun went down it got very cold on the mountain and the hotel still hadn't turned on their heating (I was there in late October). |
